The Quisenberry Library – Clinton, MS

Uncle Sam & Fireworks

Each month, The Quisenberry Library will showcase a different theme in our large display case. Local Clintonian Richard Puckett has been most generous to share his many village collections with the library and the Clinton community.

Our first display is a visually captivating collage celebrating both the 4th of July, as well as our country’s history and beginning. Be sure to stop by to see this and upcoming delightful displays. They are educational as well as beautiful!

Library News

April 7th, 2010

UPDATE:
Click on Events for continuing updates on May opening events.

The Quisenberry Library opens: Monday, May 3rd @ 9am.
Community Open House & Ribbon Cutting: Sunday, May 2nd @ 2p-5p
-There will be a large separated room devoted entirely to Genealogical Material. The room measures in at 1250 sq. ft.
- The Children & Youth Dept. also has a large, separated area down the hall past the Genealogical room. This area is quite large (4207 sq. ft.) and will house all children & youth material.
-The adult stacks area (Fiction, Non-Fiction, DVDs, Reference Material, Newspapers/Periodicals) will be in the main, open area of the library. This area will also hold our public access/Internet computers. We will be increasing the number of computers from eight at the current library to at least 22 at the new library.
- Quiet Study Rooms are also available free of charge.
-The new library will also have one very large meeting room (1800 sq. ft.) that holds 200 seated individuals and 2 smaller conference rooms.

April 14th will be here before you know it. We’re winding things up here–packing up, discarding items, looking forward to moving in the the new Quisenberry building at 605 E.Northside Drive.  We will close at 9pm on the 14th and reopen at the Quisenberry  Branch on May 3rd at 9am.

We started our Friends of the Library Booksale today. Patrons have been in and out all day! It will run until we’ve sold out! We have books, videos, magazines….you name it….fiction, non-fiction, classics, biographies, reference, children’s materials, etc. You can’t beat prices like: $1 for hardback and paperback at just .25 cents (or 5 for $1). Buying books from this sale is good for your mind (and wallets), but also good for us. We’re making room for new materials. All proceeds from our booksales go back into supporting the library and our various programs.

We will no longer be accepting donations at the A.E. Wood branch. We have so many books around us, please hold donations for the time being.

The community at large is invited for an open house on Sunday, May 2nd from 2p-5pm. Be among the first ones to see one of the most beautiful public libraries and to support the great town of Clinton.

Happy Reading,

Shellie

2-25-10 Update

February 25th, 2010

The new library transition has definitely kept me busy since my induction as the branch manager. Like the rest of the Clinton community, I await in anticipation of unveiling a library that this community most definitely deserves and needs. In the not too distant future, we will be releasing dates/times of programs that will take place during the first month of our Grand Opening. I’m sure you all will be most pleased. Below are a few current photos of the library. Furniture is planned to be installed completely by mid march.
